Mens Gym Wear NecklaceThe phrase "selection of good materials" in the original description is a promise we take with the utmost seriousness. But what does "good" truly mean? For us, it is a trifecta of qualities: material integrity, ethical provenance, and minimal environmental impact. It is a commitment that begins long before the artisan's hand touches the metal.
Our primary alloy is a custom blend, the result of extensive research and collaboration with metallurgists. While its exact composition is a proprietary secret, its principles are not. We start with a brass alloy, chosen for its warmth and malleability. However, unlike standard brass which often uses nickel as a whitener, we employ a combination of silicon and manganese to achieve the desired workability and strength. This complex formulation is more costly but is the fundamental reason we can guarantee a nickel-free and lead-free product.
The journey of this metal is one we strive to make transparent. A significant portion of our material is sourced from post-industrial recycled brass. This isn't just a sustainability buzzword; it's a rigorous process. Metal scraps from various manufacturing processes—think off-cuts from ordinance factories, plumbing fixture manufacturers, and other metalworks—are collected, meticulously sorted, and smelted down in a dedicated recycling facility. This process reduces the demand for virgin ore mining, an industry often associated with habitat destruction, water pollution, and significant carbon emissions. By using recycled content, we reduce our piece's embedded energy—the total energy consumed throughout its life cycle—by up to 60%.
